Credit Suisse poaches private bankers from UBS in Asia, loses Hong Kong branch manager
Credit Suisse has hired several senior private bankers in the Asia-Pacific region, most of whom are from UBS Wealth Management, but has lost its private banking branch manager in Hong Kong, Enid Yip, who resigned for personal reasons.
Yip’s responsibilites will be assumed by Anuj Khanna, head of private banking for North Asia and chief executive of the Hong Kong branch.
François Monnet joins Credit Suisse as head of private banking for South-east Asia and Australasia as of September 1, replacing Didier von Daeniken, who left in March. Based in Singapore, Monnet will focus on building up the Swiss bank’s existing franchise across South-east Asia and its new operations in Australia and Indonesia. He moves from UBS, where he headed the offshore private client business segment in Asia-Pacific, with an additional focus on the Singapore domestic market.
Stefan Mueller will join on September 1 as head of sales management for Asia-Pacific, moving from UBS Wealth Management in Singapore, where he was head of investment solutions Asia for non-traditional asset classes. He had been with UBS for 10 years in Hong Kong, Switzerland and Singapore.
Christian Senn will return to Credit Suisse on August 1 as head of investment consulting in Singapore. In his new role, Senn will head a team of investment consultants covering the ultra-high-net-worth client segment. He was previously head of active advisory at UBS Wealth Management in Singapore, and before that spent 19 years with Credit Suisse in the private banking business across Europe and the Americas.
In Hong Kong, Lionel Kwok joins Credit Suisse as head of products for private banking for North Asia. Previously head of global markets Asia at Fortis Bank, Kwok has 20 years’ experience in the investment banking and investment industry in Hong Kong, London and New York.
Philippe Clémençon has relocated from Credit Suisse in Zurich to become Singapore-based chief operating officer (COO) for private banking in Asia-Pacific. In addition to his position as COO, Clémençon will play a central role in developing and executing the Asia-Pacific private banking business strategy. He was previously global head of business control for Credit Suisse’s private banking division in Switzerland.
All the new appointments, apart from Monnet, are to newly created or restructured roles.
