ANDREW HALDANE

The Bank of England (BoE) is appointing Andrew Haldane as its new executive director for financial stability. He will take over the role at the central bank from incumbent Nigel Jenkinson on January 1, 2009.

Haldane has been at the BoE since 1989 and has been in his current role as head of its systemic risk assessment division since 2005. His responsibilities have included producing the bi-annual Financial Stability Report, redesigning the BoE's financial stability framework, and
