JAIME CARUANA

The Bank for International Settlements has announced the appointment of Jaime Caruana as its new chief executive. Caruana was one of the key players in the creation of Basel II. The appointment fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Malcolm Knight, who served between 2003 and 2008. Caruana will serve a five-year term, to take effect from April 1.
