New chief risk officer for Swiss Re

Swiss Re has selected Raj Singh to succeed Christian Mumenthaler as the firm's chief risk officer. Mumenthaler will take over operational responsibility for Swiss Re's second largest business segment, Life & Health Products. Raj Singh will also join Swiss Re's executive committee. Since 2002, Raj Singh has been in charge of risk management at Allianz Group where he was responsible for defining risk policies, oversight of the framework and processes across the group, as well as the firm's overall risk architecture.

Allianz Group appoints Wilson

Allianz Group has appointed Thomas Wilson, Life & Pensions 2007 'CRO of the Year', as the firm's new chief risk officer. Wilson, who is currently the chief insurance risk officer of the ING Group, will replace Raj Singh when he leaves to join Swiss Re in January. Before joining ING in 2005, Wilson was head of finance and risk practice at Mercer Oliver Wyman. ING has not yet announced a replacement.

Generali restructures

Generali appointed two new heads of regions; Mel Carvill who will coordinate operations in western Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, and oversee the research and development office, international regulatory affairs and M&A. Valter Trevisani will coordinate operations in Germany, Austria, central and eastern Europe and Asia, and will provide technical control for life, non-life and reinsurance.

Tonner joins Tillinghast sales team

David Tonner has joined Towers Perrin's Tillinghast business as sales director EMEA to support growth of financial modelling software across EMEA. Previously Tonner worked with SunGard where he was vice- president and head of worldwide sales. In his new role, Tonner will focus on working with Towers Perrin financial modelling products, and specifically on the newly developed risk management software framework, RiskAgility.
