Royal Bank of Canada expands global carbon programme

RBC capital markets, the investment banking division of the Royal Bank of Canada, has hired five new staff to its newly created emissions trading group. The team was established in May this year.

The firm says the move is a response to a rapidly developing global carbon market.

"Our clients need the ability to trade, and get closer to other clients who they can trade with, so it's important to us to develop these relationships," says Mike MacBain, head of global debt markets at RBC Capital Markets
