Steven Ward is Morgan Stanley's new head of global technology and operations. Ward was formerly Morgan's chief executive and head of investment banking for European business.

He reports to John Mack, Morgan Stanley's president. As part of his promotion, Ward becomes a member of the investment bank's management committee.

Ward replaces David Booth who has decided to "pursue other interests". Booth will become an advisory director of Morgan Stanley, says a spokesperson.

Infinity Financial Technology has named Ron Lang as vice president of marketing. Lang previously held senior marketing and management posts at several Silicon Valley companies, including Sun Microsystems, Apple Computer, Rational Software and Takefive Software.

Renaissance's co-founder Kannan Ayyar has resurfaced as chairman and co-founder of Interweave Software, a Santa Clara, California-based start-up.

Interweave develops and markets software that allows companies to access their data warehouses and operational databases via the Internet's World Wide Web.

The other founder of Interweave is Indra Mohan, who was also one of the founders of Tibco, the data distribution and middleware subsidiary of Reuters, which was previously known as Teknekron Software Systems.

FNX, the Philadelphia-based financial software house, has made two new hires to its sales team: Craig Johl and George Fieldsend. Both will report to Mark Galant, FNX's president.

Johl had most recently been Rolfe & Nolan's product manager for New York sales and support of its Lighthouse software. Fieldsend was previously an interest rate options trader at Credit Lyonnais in New York.

Tech Hackers, the New York-based financial analytics vendor has appointed two senior managing directors: Robert Samuel and Peter Greenberg.
