ABN Amro expands financial markets advisory business to Asia

ABN Amro has expanded its financial markets advisory department to Asia, with the appointment of a new Hong Kong-based team to provide advisory services on debt funding, risk management and ratings advisory to corporates and financial institutions around the region.

Ming Wong, who will head up the team, joins from Standard Chartered where he was head of corporate finance and advisory for North East Asia. He reports to Greg Major, global head of financial markets advisory.

Wong is joined by Evert-Jan Zondag and William Cuthbert, both of whom relocate from other positions within ABN Amro. Zondag moves from Amsterdam, where he worked in the bank’s capital structuring team, while Cuthbert moves from ABN Amro in London to head ratings advisory in Asia. Cuthbert, who joined the bank in 2001 from JP Morgan Chase, will maintain a direct report to David Beardsall, global head of ratings advisory.

ABN Amro began its financial markets advisory business last year, with launches in Europe, North America and Australia. The teams specialise in offering advice on debt funding, balance sheet optimisation, capital structuring, risk and value management, portfolio optimisation, ratings advisory and transaction structuring/restructuring.
