HSBC appoints investment banking and markets co-heads
HSBC last week announced the appointment of Stuart Gulliver as co-head of the corporate, investment banking and markets business (CIBM), responsible for foreign exchange, fixed income, syndicated loans, structured credit, precious metals, equities and all derivatives.
Gulliver previously managed HSBC’s global markets business, having been appointed to that role last year, and relocates from Hong Kong to London. He has worked at HSBC since 1980 in a variety of roles, including forex sales chief in Hong Kong, treasurer in Tokyo and manager of group treasury in London.
Studzinski joins HSBC from Morgan Stanley International, where he was deputy chairman in London. He worked at that bank for 23 years, including a stint as head of investment banking in Europe.
Gulliver and Studzinski report to Stephen Green, former executive director of CIBM, who becomes chief executive of HSBC Group on May 30.
Gulliver and Studzinki will jointly chair the CIBM management committee, which also comprises: Krishna Patel, chairman of the global investment banking division; Tony Rademeyer, head of CIBM for Asia-Pacific; Brian Robertson, head of CIBM for HSBC in North America and Iain Stewart, head of transaction banking for CIBM.
