ING hires director and head of financial engineering in Asia

ING has hired Geoff Parsons in a newly created role as director and head of financial engineering in Asia.

Based in Hong Kong, Parsons will primarily focus on devising complex, structured finance solutions for the bank’s corporate and institutional clients based in Asia using tax and regulatory tools. He will also integrate financial engineering solutions with ING’s existing lending, advisory and funding products.

Parsons joins the bank from ABN Amro, where he was director and head of financial engineering in Asia for seven years delivering tailored, complex and tax-driven funding solutions for corporate and financial institutions. Prior to ABN Amro, Parsons worked for Asia Capital Partners in Hong Kong as an associate in the structured and corporate finance department. Previously, he has also worked as an auditor at KPMG Peat Marwick.

"Geoff brings to ING significant structuring expertise and experience that will complement the skills of the existing team and help further enhance our product offering to corporate clients,” said Basheer Buhari, ING's head of structured finance in Asia.

At ING, Parsons will report to Buhari on a regional basis and functionally to Steven Ng, ING’s head of financial engineering based in Amsterdam.
