Two new board members for CBOE

Craig Messinger, executive vice president of Boston-based Fidelity Capital Markets, and Thomas Patrick, a managing director at Merrill Lynch, have been appointed to the board of directors of the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE). They replace two departing board members and their terms begin immediately.

Messinger, who is responsible for all aspects of Fidelity's capital markets operations, joined the firm in 1996 as an executive vice president responsible for fixed income sales and trading, and for foreign exchange and research. Before joining Fidelity, Messinger spent 15 years at Lehman Brothers. He replaces Robert Mazzarella of Fidelity Brokerage Services.

Patrick has worked at Merrill Lynch since 1993, and was recently appointed head of America's equity-linked trading, which includes equity derivatives, convertibles, and securitised products. He is also responsible for all US options markets at Merrill Lynch. Patrick replaces David Lund on the CBOE board. Lund also works at Merrill Lynch, as co-head of global equity linked products.
