Valensise appointed chief investment officer at Barings

Baring Asset Management, the London-based investment management firm, has appointed Marino Valensise as chief investment officer.

Valensise has worked at the firm since 1999 and his previous position was head of fixed income and currency. He replaces Michael Hughes, who will stay on at Barings in a consultancy role until his retirement at the end of the year.

Also at Barings, Alan Wilde will assume leadership of the fixed income and currency team, reporting to Valensise. Wilde was previously deputy head of fixed income and has worked at the asset manager for three years. Valensise and Wilde will both be based in London.
