Santander appoints new quants head

Banco Santander Central Hispano has hired François Friggit as head of quants, for interest rates and hybrid products at the bank’s headquarters in Madrid.

Friggit joins from Calyon, where he was head of equity derivatives quants in London. Previously, he spent 12 years working for the quant teams at Credit Lyonnais and at Bank Gesellschaft, both London-based positions.

The Spanish bank said Friggit’s appointment would help build up its growing structured risk products desk. He reports to Pedro Díaz Montañes, head of global structuring.
