Totem hires new head of rates and currencies

Totem Market Valuations, the London-based valuations clearing house, has hired Nigel Hyde to expand its interest rate and currency derivatives services. He replaces Anthony Robson, but Totem declined to say where Robson was moving to.

Hyde joins from Barclays Capital, where he worked as a trader for the precious metals derivatives book and ran the dollar interest rate book. He also managed the foreign exchange exposure for the whole of the commodities group, including risk from precious metals, base metals and energy.

Previously, Hyde worked at General Re Financial Securities, trading FX, the yen swap book and priced fixed-income derivatives trades.

Totem chief executive Tim Barker told RiskNews that he hopes to make further hires in the interest rate and currency derivatives areas.
