JPM, PNC bolster available-for-sale portfolios in Q3

Four major US banks add $119bn to AFS holdings

Four US banks grew their available-for-sale (AFS) securities portfolios by $119.1 billion or 15.7% in the third quarter, each to levels not seen in at least two years.

JP Morgan accounted for $68.3 billion of the increase, boosting its AFS holdings by 25.7% to $334.5 billion, the largest amount since Q1 2021.
