People: All change at Citi, new FX head at Nomura, and more

Robert Finn is taking on a new role at Citi as head of FX structuring and solutions. Patrick Green, who has been leading the bank’s metals options business over the past eight years, takes on Finn’s previous role as global head of FX options trading. Before joining Citi, Green led the same business in Barclays’ commodities division, from 2010 until 2015. 

Geoff Weber has been promoted to lead Citi’s G10 flow-rates trading business. Weber will continue to be based in New York, where he will be in charge of managing G10 linear business globally, including interest rate swaps and other derivatives across North America and Europe. He previously served as the bank’s North America head of G-10 linear rates trading and co-head of finance. 

Citi has also unveiled several leadership changes following Tyler Dickson’s appointment in September as sole head of investment banking. Jens Welter, who joined last year from Credit Suisse, has been appointed to lead UK and EMEA investment banking. Nacho Gutiérrez-Orrantia becomes banking and cluster head for EMEA, having previously co-headed the unit with Welter. John Chirico, former co-head of banking, capital markets and advisory, North America, now becomes sole head of the region. Jan Metzger, former head of Asia-Pacific corporate and investment banking, has been appointed to lead the North Asia, Australia and South Asia clusters. 

Ala’a Saeed has left Citi after more than 16 years, most recently as global product head of foreign exchange electronic platforms. Saeed oversaw Citi’s single-dealer platform, Velocity, as well as its relationships with various external FX vendors. It is unclear what he plans to do next. Eduardo Martinez Campos is also stepping down after three decades at the bank, most recently as head of wealth services and strategic investments. 


Ruchir Sharma, former head of global FX for Asia-Pacific at Deutsche Bank, has joined Nomura as global head of FX options trading. Based in London, he will report to Kevin Connors, co-head of global FX and emerging markets.

State Street Global Advisors has appointed Anna Paglia as executive vice-president and chief business officer, effective from early 2024. She will report directly to chief executive Yie-Hsin Hung. Paglia was previously global head of exchange-traded funds, indexed strategies, separately managed accounts and models at Invesco. 

Ann Prendergast has been promoted to head of EMEA, and will also be reporting to Hung. She replaces Rory Tobin, who retired in June after nine years at the company. Prendergast has spent more than 23 years at State Street, most recently as head of Europe.

Dan Robinson has joined Deutsche Bank’s asset management arm DWS as EMEA head of alternative credit. He was previously managing partner of capital asset solutions at Man Group, where he was responsible for multi-asset credit in the insurance, institutional and retail channels as well as private equity-led offshore reinsurance growth strategy. He also served as the company’s global head of collateralised loan obligations and loans, and managed its structured credit and leveraged loan business. 


Anne Richards is to step down as chief executive of Fidelity International after five years and will serve as the company’s vice-chair. She will remain chief executive until a successor has been named. Prior to joining Fidelity in 2018, she was chief executive at M&G Investments and global chief investment officer at Aberdeen Asset Management. 


Matthieu Ducharme has joined Axa Investment Managers in the newly created role of head of private equity secondaries at Axa IM Prime, the private markets enabler and hedge funds platform. He reports to Peter Ischebeck, head of private equity. Ducharme was previously managing director at Northleaf Capital.


Maarten Slendebroek has been appointed chairman of Brooks Macdonald, subject to regulatory approval, and as non-executive director with immediate effect. He will succeed the current acting chairman, Richard Price. Slendebroek was chief executive of Jupiter Fund Management from 2014 until 2019. Before that, he held several positions at BlackRock, including head of BlackRock Solutions EMEA and head of international retail.

Clear Street, a non-bank prime broker, has appointed Steve Trimble as director of future sales. Trimble most recently worked for Marex as vice-president of sales and previously held the same position at ED&F Man Capital Markets. His appointment reunites him with Chris Smith, founder and former chief executive of ED&F Man Capital Markets, who joined Clear Street Futures as chief executive in August. 

Brent Posner, former senior vice-president and chief operating officer at ED&F Man Capital Markets, joined Clear Street Futures in October as chief operating officer, reporting directly to Smith. In the same month, Ursula Clay was appointed chief compliance officer at Clear Street Derivatives. She reports directly to chief executive Pat Travers and was previously managing director and chief compliance officer at Nearwater Capital.


Michel-Alain Proch has been appointed as chief financial officer at London Stock Exchange Group and as a member of the board. The appointment will be effective from 1 March 2024, subject to regulatory approval. Proch is currently group chief financial officer for Publicis Groupe and was previously CFO at several listed companies. He will replace Anna Manz, who is leaving the organisation after three years.

John Denning has been appointed chief information security officer at FS-ISAC, a not-for-profit organisation promoting cyber security in the global financial system. He is replacing Linda Betz, who had held the position on an interim basis since February. Denning was previously global compliance and operational risk executive at Bank of America.


Janet Truncale has been elected as EY’s next global chair and chief executive officer, effective from 1 July 2024. She will replace Carmine Di Sibio who is stepping down after having served on the company’s global executive board for the past 11 years. Truncale has been with EY for more than 32 years, most recently as regional managing partner at EY Americas Financial Services Organization. 


Jarryd Anderson has joined law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison as a partner in the corporate department and as co-chair of its financial services group. He will be resident in Washington and New York. A bank regulatory lawyer, Anderson previously held senior in-house positions at Wells Fargo and TD Bank.


Chang Yong Rhee, governor of the Bank of Korea, has been appointed chair of the committee on the global financial system at the Bank for International Settlements. Rhee began a three-year term on November 1, and succeeds Philip Lowe, who was chair from June 2018 until the end of his term as governor of the Reserve Bank of Australia.


Pamela Chase Dyson will step down as chief information officer and head of the technology group at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. She will leave in December 2023 for a new opportunity. Sushmita Shukla, the New York Fed’s first vice-president and chief operating officer, will serve in an additional capacity as interim CIO and head of the technology group until a permanent successor has been appointed.
