The European Commission’s proposal to move Europe’s gas markets away from the Dutch Title Transfer Facility (TTF) benchmark has been brushed off by market participants, who say the plan isn’t being taken seriously by the market.

In a raft of measures to stabilise Europe’s energy markets, EC president, Ursula von der Leyen confirmed the legislator’s decision to look for an alternative benchmark for European gas markets as part of her State of the Union speech on Wednesday (September 14).
