Archegos, LME show swaps data blindspots – CFTC chair

Regulator is actively looking to beef up reporting and data aggregation capabilities for index swaps

The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission is looking into whether gaps in its swaps data reporting rules have allowed unseen risks to build up between the cleared and non-cleared over-the-counter markets, its chairman Rostin Behnam has suggested.

Speaking at a Managed Funds Association conference on May 23, Behnam addressed the blow-up of family office Archegos and the short squeeze on major nickel producer Tsingshan, which sent shockwaves through two separate corners of the financial markets
