‘Bad bank’ unwinding pushed op risk at multi-year low

Deutsche Bank’s operational risk-weighted assets (RWAs) dropped to their lowest level in over five years, driven by the unwinding of legacy assets at its ‘bad bank’.

Op RWAs at the German dealer stood at €62 billion ($69 billion) at end-2021, a 4% fall quarter on quarter and a 10% decrease on the year prior. This translates to a capital requirement of almost €5 billion.
