Overseas loans to US crept up in Q4
But rate of loan growth to US borrowers fell throughout 2018
Loans made to US borrowers by overseas lenders grew at a faster rate in Q4 2018 compared with Q3, but at a much slower pace than the same quarter a year ago.
Figures published by the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), show claims on the US private non-financial sector grew at a rate of 3% on an annualised basis in Q4 2018, compared with 2% the previous quarter. But the growth rate is far lower than the 9.7% registered in Q4 2017.
