Asia moves: ICBC gets new structuring head, Savills Investment Management names new CEO, and more

ICBC Standard Bank has appointed Florent Darlet head of the bank’s commodity structuring business in Asia. Based in Singapore, Darlet will report directly to Henry Luo, head of global markets structuring, with a line into Stephen Gargiulo, global head of FICE sales and structuring.
Darlet has worked in solutions structuring for more than 20 years, and has held a range of positions around the world, including roles in Paris, London, Hong Kong, Singapore and, most recently, in Moscow as head of Russian lender Sberbank’s structured products group.
Credit Suisse has announced the appointment of Tan Mae Shen as senior specialist for family office services in Asia-Pacific, a role dedicated to family office coverage within Greater China.
Tan joined Credit Suisse in 2017 in Singapore, where she worked on family office solutions for clients across South-east Asia, Hong Kong, China and the Middle East. She has worked in family office services since 1998, and prior to joining Credit Suisse was chief investment officer for an Asian-American family office where she established and implemented public and private investments, as well as investments in real estate.
Global real estate investment manager Savills Investment Management has appointed Alex Jeffrey as its new chief executive. Based in Singapore, Jeffrey will take up the role in late 2019, subject to regulatory approval. Jeffrey was previously the chief executive of M&G’s real estate division, based in London.
Hong Kong’s Securities and Futures Commission has reappointed Thomas Atkinson executive director of enforcement for a further term of three years. Atkinson will remain responsible for the surveillance of the securities and futures markets in order to identify unacceptable conduct, as well as for investigating statutory offences and breaches of the legislation enforced by the SFC.
Prior to joining the SFC, Atkinson was director of enforcement at the Ontario Securities Commission in Canada. In addition to his role, Atkinson also sits on the Securities Compensation Fund Committee, the Investor Compensation Fund Committee and the Executive Committee of the SFC.
Avril Rae (pictured) has been named head of fintech for China at KPMG, where she will lead the fintech offering of the professional services firm’s banking team. Rae has more than 20 years’ experience in IT, and in her previous role led a team of client-facing professionals for Refinitiv across northern Asia.
Rae is also vice-chair of the Innovation and Technology Committee for the British Chamber of Commerce, co-chair of the Big Data Committee for the Fintech Association of Hong Kong and an active member of the Fix Trading Community.
Loomis Sayles Investments Asia, an affiliate of Natixis Investment Managers, has named Thu Ha Chow portfolio manager for Asia credit strategies, including the recently launched Asia Bond Plus strategy, and senior credit strategist for the emerging markets debt team.
Thu Ha joins existing emerging markets debt portfolio manager Elisabeth Colleran in co-managing the Asia Bond Plus strategy, which seeks to generate returns by investing in corporate bonds. In addition to her portfolio management responsibilities, Thu Ha will focus on identifying Asian corporate credit investment opportunities across the emerging market debt portfolios.
Based in Singapore, Thu Ha joined Loomis Sayles in 2016 as a senior credit research analyst covering Asian corporate credits. In her new role, she will report to deputy chief investment officer David Waldman.
Bain & Company has appointed Henrik Naujoks, global head of its insurance practice, as head of the firm’s Asia-Pacific financial services practice in Hong Kong.
Naujoks will remain global head of the company’s insurance practice in addition to his new role overseeing the growth, strategy, talent and operations of the Asia-Pacific financial services practice. He brings to the role more than 25 years of management consulting experience, advising companies in the insurance and banking sectors on corporate and business unit strategy, customer strategy, organisation and post-merger integrations.
Morgan Stanley Investment Services has announced the appointment of Yoon-Pyo Lee as a managing director and head of the company’s Korea business.
Based in Seoul, Lee will assume a newly created position in which he will be responsible for overseeing and growing the company’s asset management business in the country. Previously, Lee was senior executive vice-president and co-chief executive of Korean asset manager Truston Asset Management. Prior to that, he worked at Korea’s National Pension Service, where he held a range of senior positions including head of the global private market investment division and head of investment strategy.
Citi China has announced the appointment of Luke Lu as head of Citi China Commercial Bank. Based in Shanghai, Lu will oversee Citi China Commercial Bank’s operations in service of the country’s emerging and developing corporates.
Lu has more than 20 years’ experience in the banking industry and rejoins Citi from MUFG China, where he was head of corporate banking for two years. Prior to that, Lu held a variety of roles at Citi China between 2002 and 2017, including chief operating officer of global banking and head of payables product in the bank’s treasury and trade solutions business.
