Cyber security has traditionally been a field established to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of digital information. As the world grows in its usage of digital data for business, commerce, retail, healthcare and government, so too does our dependency on this data. We want our medical records to be available to our healthcare providers when it is needed, especially in emergencies. We want our favourite retailers and restaurants to recognise us, record our purchases to automatically alert us of recalls and offer us custom coupons on things that we want. Businesses want to use this data to facilitate and accelerate purchasing, close deals faster, sell to customers better and collect payments faster. Our consumer demands continue to propel us into the future. We want our cars to drive themselves. We want our homes to be smarter and optimise utility usage data to save us money and keep us comfortable. We even want our clothes to monitor our health and comfort, and to make adjustments accordingly. In addition, we want to access and control these things with our mobile devices and watches.
