US hedge fund launches continue to surge

US hedge fund launches grew around 10% in 2013. Seward & Kissel reports redemptions are tightening, as quarterly liquidity becomes the norm for fund launches

Less than half of fund launches in 2013 attracted seed capital

While European hedge fund launches were in the doldrums in 2013, the US market saw a healthy year-on-year growth of 10% with the majority (65%) opting for equity or equity-related strategies, according to a survey by US law firm Seward & Kissel.
