Equity inflows boost ETF assets by 19% to hit record highs

Assets in exchange-traded funds reached an all-time high of $2.319 trillion in October, with three firms – iShares, State Street and Vanguard – accounting for 70% of the total

Exchange-traded fund (ETF) assets soared by 19% this year, while the number of firms holding and trading ETFs has also shot up, according to Deborah Fuhr, managing director at ETFGI in London.

There are currently more than 5,000 products trading on 57 exchanges around the world, bringing total ETF assets to an all-time high of $2.319 trillion. The industry has been growing at a compounded annual rate of nearly 30% over the past 10 years, said Fuhr, speaking at Structured Products magazine's
