Postponed Omnibus II vote casts doubt on Solvency II 2016 launch

European Parliament pushes back vote to March 11 despite positive developments in Omnibus II negotiations

The implementation timetable for Solvency II faces the threat of further delays after the European Parliament key vote on Omnibus II was pushed back by five months.

The postponement to February 3, 2014 comes as the political negotiations to hammer out a final draft of Omnibus II resume after the summer recess, despite positive developments in informal negotiations over the past couple of months.

The delay to the parliament's vote is fuelling concerns that the targeted January 2016 implementation
