FSA secures 23rd insider dealing conviction

Former futures trader sentenced to four years in prison

Former futures trader Richard Joseph has today been sentenced to four years in prison for insider dealing, in a prosecution brought by the UK's Financial Services Authority (FSA). The organisation has now secured 23 convictions and is prosecuting six further individuals in relation to insider dealing.

Joseph made a profit of £591,117 from his trades between September 2007 and July 2008.  He attempted to disguise confidential information from two investment banks concerning takeover bids by using
