LGIM Japan Alpha Fund: Legal & General Investment Management

As Legal & General's first foray into the hedge fund world, the LGIM Japan Alpha Fund had a huge weight of expectation on it. After running successful long-only books investing in Japan stocks it was important for the company to have someone enthusiastic and confident to sit in the driving seat and steer a steady course through the world of alternatives.

Andrew Nagele, associate director (Japan) at Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM), has been leading the Japanese equities team since he joined in 1990. Much of the reasoning behind the hedge fund launch was down to Nagele's personal ambition and it seemed natural that he would tackle the hedge fund world, looking to generate more income and grow the business.
