This year is proving to be difficult for structured equity but beneficial for alternative investments. The market has enjoyed huge growth in recent years but is starting to slow as problems with the traditional methodologies are overcome by new product innovations.


The size of these structured markets are difficult to estimate but are said to be about $100bn a year. Estimates for structured hedge fund products alone in 2001 was more than $12bn, the area of fastest growth.
