How granular profits could profit hedge funds
A confluence of supply and demand stresses could see corn and other grains make hedge funds trading in them some handy money, as David Walker explains
While much focus on commodities has rested recently on the metals segment, Mehdi Chaouky, analyst at Diapason Commodities Management says a 'perfect storm' in the grains segment could throw up some profitable trading opportunities for hedge funds and other interested parties.
"In the price rises in commodities since 1998-2001, energy and metals have been far ahead of the grains portion of agriculture," Chaouky notes.
