Gartmore growth heads for the stars

While Gartmore may be known best for its star manager Roger Guy and sales head Martin Phipps, it has sought out other stars to boost its team and array of funds

As an asset manager, Gartmore has been in operation since 1969. In November 1999, it launched its flagship hedge fund, AlphaGen Capella.

In the four-and-a-half years since, the group has taken its hedge fund range to 18 and appointed Charles Beazley as global head of institutional and alternative investments. Beazley is responsible for the direction, strategy and commercial activities of Gartmore's hedge fund range.
