The UK Structured Products Association (SPA) has defended structured deposits following damning conclusions in a Which? magazine article titled ‘Not so simple savings'.

The article was based on historical simulations of how selected structured deposits performed, compared with fixed-rate deposits. It led to Which? concluding that consumers would be better off with the savings accounts. "Structured deposits have crept into the mainstream over the past few years, with banks and building societies
