Adoboli: ‘I wish I was a rogue trader’

Former UBS trader claims colleagues influenced his market position

Kweku Adoboli, the accused rogue trader, told a London court yesterday that his colleagues influenced him to change his position from bearish to bullish, resulting in losses of $2.3 billion.

Adoboli faces charges of fraud and false accounting, which he denies.

On July 1, 2011, Adoboli changed his position from short to long. He told the court this was following two months of "fighting against the tide". Adoboli said he believed markets would fall, but changed his position due to "considerable
