Regulation is reshaping the future of the over-the-counter derivatives market. The Dodd-Frank Act in the US and European Market Infrastructure Regulation (Emir) in the EU is imposing central clearing requirements on OTC derivatives. Here in Asia, several countries including members of the Group of 20 and Hong Kong and Singapore are looking at implementing central clearing from 2013.

Additionally, Basel III regulatory standards will increase the relative capital requirements for bilateral OTC
