EU ETS set-aside takes another step forward

The European Parliament's Committee on Industry, Research and Energy has voted for the use of a set-aside under the European Union Emissions Trading Scheme

The controversial set-aside scheme for the European Union Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS) may be a step closer after the European Parliament's Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) voted in favour of withholding emissions allowances under the scheme.

The vote passed this week is a move forward for a potential amendment in the EU ETS directive. A temporary removal of credits from the total allocation, also known as a set-aside, is being pushed by some participants and regulators
