They are known for their low cost, ease of access and portfolio diversification potential, and since their first inception in the US in 2006, exchange-traded notes (ETNs) have become an integral part of the exchange-traded products (ETP) platform both in Europe and the US. Exchange-traded products have seen strong developments and growth in the past two years, but the most popular and fast-expanding remain exchange-traded funds (ETFs), which dominate in terms of assets and number of products
