The sheer scale of new regulatory reform being introduced around the world – G20 commitments, the Dodd-Frank Act and European Market Infrastructure Reform (Emir) legislation, the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (Mifid) review, and the Basel III Capital Accord, to name a few – inevitably meant vested parties would need to address areas of overlap as well as the unexpected consequences from all these rules.
