S&P to introduce Vix concept to global markets

The index provider will provide investors in Australia, Canada and India with real-time volatility indexes this year

Standard & Poor’s to create volatility indexes in global markets

Standard & Poor's plans to roll out first-generation volatility products that have performed well in the US and Europe to other global markets, such as Australia, Canada, Hong Kong and India, in partnership with exchanges and banks.

"The idea is that at some point there will be exchange-traded derivatives and over-the-counter volatility markets in these countries," says Srikant Dash, vice-president of the global research and design team at Standard & Poor's in New York.
