Bespoke structures boost BNP Paribas’ 2010 results

BNP Paribas has announced financial results for 2010 that reflect some success in the provision of tailormade structured products to institutional investors.

Equity and advisory revenues at BNP Paribas rose by 15.7% "despite the high cost of hedging customer positions in the second quarter of the year against a backdrop of feverish markets", according to the French bank.

The bank's equity and advisory revenues were €2.22 billion, with bespoke structured products playing a big part in the improved results. The bespoke business has thrived, especially with BNP's larger European clients. The structured products created have been designed to limit
