New European regulators appoint first chairs

Andrea Enria and Stephen Maijoor named as chairs of European Banking Authority and European Securities and Markets Authority respectively.

The new European financial regulatory bodies set up at the start of 2011 have named their first chairs.

Andrea Enria, head of the supervisory regulations and policies department at the Bank of Italy, will shortly become chair of the London-based European Banking Authority (EBA) and Stephen Maijoor, director at the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets, takes up the equivalent position at the Brussels-based European Securities and Markets Authority (Esma).
