Political tension eases in Egypt, but eurozone spreads widen

Egyptian credit default swap (CDS) spreads fell again today, narrowing from 379 basis points to 364bp between close of play on Friday and 1.00pm today, according to financial information provider Markit. Although protesters continue to occupy Tahrir Square in central Cairo, the political tension in Egypt appears to have eased slightly since vice-president Omar Sulieman entered into negotiations with opposition groups to bring the crisis to an end.
