European Parliament sets up future Basel III flashpoints

An own-initiative report from the parliament calls for changes to be made in key areas of Basel III, putting it on a potential collision course with the Basel Committee

The European Parliament has something to say about Basel III. To be more precise, it has 68 things to say, including a suggestion that the authors of the new rules - the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision - be merged into the International Monetary Fund, along with the International Organization of Securities Commissions and the International Accounting Standards Board, to "establish proper organisation of the world of finance".
