EFET calls for exemptions from mandatory trade clearing

EFET calls for energy companies to be exempted from mandatory clearing as proposed by the European Commission

The European Federation of Energy Traders (EFET) will lobby for non-financial institutions to have a full exemption from mandatory clearing when the body submits its formal response on July 9 to the European Commission's (EC) public consultation on measures to enhance the resilience of derivatives markets and market infrastructures.

This exemption for commercial firms who hedge risk from producing or consuming commodities would mirror that given to these ‘end-users' in the financial regulation
