Liquidnet debuts offshore alternative trading in New Zealand

New Zealand is poised to have what is believed to be its first offshore dark pool when Liquidnet launches its trading operation on June 22.

Liquidnet, an off-exchange venue that enables anonymous block trading of equities, is set to become the New Zealand's first alternative trading venue offering electronic trading access to equities listed in the country. The service will be offered offshore from Liquidnet Australia to clients globally including mutual funds, asset managers and hedge funds. It is set to go live on June 22.
