European Commission admitted to CPSS/Iosco working group on CCPs

The EC says its seat on the steering committee will help keep global regulation coherent.

The European Commission (EC) has been granted observer status on the steering committee of an influential working group reviewing standards for financial market infrastructures, including central counterparties (CCPs) for over-the-counter derivatives.

The joint working group of the Basel-based Committee on Payment and Settlement Systems (CPSS) and the technical committee of the Madrid-based International Organisation of Securities Commissions (Iosco) formally invited the EC to join earlier this
