Cap-and-trade bill passed by Senate committee

The Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works (EPW) passed the Kerry-Boxer Clean Energy Jobs and American Power Act by 11 votes to one today, with all seven Republican committee members absent from the vote.

In a statement on the decision to vote in the absence of the Republican members, senator Barbara Boxer, co-author of the bill and chairman of the Committee, said: “A majority of the EPW Committee voted to send the Clean Energy Jobs and American Power Act to the floor of the Senate today in full accordance with longstanding Committee and Senate rules.”
