Carbon traders concerned over SGS UK suspension
Carbon traders have expressed concern over the suspension of SGS UK, the largest carbon project verifier in the world, by the United Nations.
SGS UK is the second Designated Operating Entity (DOE) to receive such treatment. Last November, Norway-based project verifier DNV, was also suspended for similar reasons.
SGS UK has been accused of failing to audit projects sufficiently and employing staff that were not properly qualified to perform audits of carbon projects. UN inspectors found six irregularities in SGS's work, exposed in a recent surprise inspection. The suspension will be lifted once the UN verifies that the issues have been
