Bafin embarks on risk-based remuneration regulation

FRANKFURT - An August 14 circular from Bafin confirms the German financial regulator is on target to regulate financial firms' remuneration policies by next year. Bafin's plans to restructure firm's compensation policies and realign pay with risks appear to go further than the code of practice confirmed on August 12 by the UK Financial Services Authority (FSA).

The Bafin rules apply to all German banks, and demand they have remuneration policies consistent with their business strategies, with
