LME freight screen proposals make waves

Plans by the London Metal Exchange (LME) to launch an exchange for forward freight agreements (FFAs) have caused a stir, reports Katie Holliday

The LME has caused controversy in the dry freight market after it confirmed it had made detailed studies on the viability of launching an FFA exchange. LME CEO Martin Abbott says the FFA market - currently exclusively OTC - would benefit from trading on a transparent exchange through increased liquidity and efficiency.
