Dong Energy acquires German wholesale company

Danish firm Dong Energy has acquired German wholesale company Kom-Strom for €27 million ($38.23 million) from Essent.

Dutch utility Essent sold its 83.57% stake in Kom-Strom as part of a "strategic realignment" according to an Essent statement. Kom-Strom's minority shareholders consist of 11 Stadtwerke - local utility companies.

"Investing in Kom-Strom increases our product portfolio, providing us with better opportunities to become the preferred supplier to the Stadtwerke and big industrial customers", says Kurt
