Ferc backs off on standardisation plans

US interstate energy regulator the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (Ferc) said in January it would delay its plan for a standard market design (SMD) in the face of opposition from some US states.

Ferc says it will issue a white paper on SMD in April in order to accommodate what it called “regional flexibility” – a veiled reference to concerns that the federal plan will take too much power away from state utility bodies.
