New ETF exposes investors to large-cap television index

Northern Trust has listed a new exchange-traded fund (ETF) on the Arca platform of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE.) The Nets (Northern Exchange traded shares) fund will track the performance of the FTSE CNBC Global 300 Index, which includes 300 stocks from across all industries in developed and emerging markets.

The index was designed for use in television channel CNBC's news programming to offer a broad contextual indication in business stories of how markets are performing. It selects the 15 largest stocks by market capitalisation from 18 Industry Classification Benchmark Supersectors from the FTSE All Cap Developed Index, plus an additional 30 from emerging markets. The supersectors include oil and gas, retail, telecoms and financial services.
